Lew Hollander Sets New World Record, 2012 Hawaii Ironman

82 year old Lew Hollander once again becomes the older person in history to finish an Ironman Triathlon (140.6 miles) under 17 hours at the 2012 Ironman World Championship on October 13th in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Lew swam a 2:09:13 (10 minutes and 47 seconds under the cut-off), biked 7:44:46 and ran 6:36:59 marathon to finish in 16 hours, 45 minutes and 52 seconds.  What’s more remarkable, Lew was actually 3rd in his age group which means two other men in their 80′s also finished under the 17 hour cut off time of 17 hours!

Last year, Lew finished the race in 16 hours, 45 minutes and 55 seconds!
