TJ Tollakson Wins Ironman Lake Placid
The 10th time was the charm for TJ Tollakson today at Ironman Lake Placid. Today was TJ’s tenth Ironman race and his first victory at this distance. He nearly broke the bike course record today and posted a sub-3 hour marathon to win his first ever Ironman title.
IRONMANLIVE.COM: It was only fitting that an American take the overall win at the oldest Ironman race in mainland USA. Hailing from Des Moines, Iowa, TJ Tollakson came out of the water second, grabbed the early lead on the bike and that is where he stayed for the remainder of the day. He crossed the line in 8:25:15 to collect the 2011 Ford Ironman Lake Placid Men’s Title. Defending champion Ben Hoffman was second (8:33:29), and Australian Jason Shortis ran a race best 2:50:25 marathon to get third (8:47:18).
